Using Gemini for a “Create Your Own Government” Project

In my 8th grade Civics and Government class, students learned about government and the different components of it. To measure student success, they completed a project in which they created their own government. I utilized Gemini to help me come up with questions that would best draw upon taught information to indicate if students achieved the success criteria for this particular unit. The goal was to draw upon the highest level of Bloom’s Taxonomy, which is creation. When students can apply taught information to a project in which they must display all prior knowledge and levels of learning and understanding to a display of mastery, this helps with the retainment of information. To ensure that I connected to learned information that would display increased understanding, I prompted Gemini to assist with the questions that I would ask. It gave me the tools to formulate the full project in a way that students were able to understand and apply their knowledge to.
