Using Library Sources to Enhance Classroom Instruction

As a teacher, I’ve learned that students don’t always struggle because they can’t do the work, they struggle because they don’t know where to start. That’s why I make a point to use our library as part of my instruction. When I sit down with a student and help them find a book or a resource that actually fits what they need, They feel more confident in their writing. It gives them a way in, instead of just staring at a blank page or a Google search they don’t trust.

I want my students to get better at finding real, reliable information and actually using it. The library helps with that. It slows them down in a good way and forces them to think about what they’re reading instead of just copying the first thing they find online. If they can learn how to do that, they’re in a much better spot.
