Over the past 9 weeks I have been reading a book called “Total Participation Techniques” and it has taught me different techniques to use in my own classroom to help students feel more involved in the lessons. I have been working with KEDC in a program called EPIC that is allowing me to learn and work towards becoming a better teacher.
This book taught me how to use a technique called “Quick-Writes” where I have given students a prompt and allow the 4 minutes to write their thoughts down on paper about the subject. It also taught me about “Think-Pair-Share”. This is where I have given students a prompt, they think about it and get their thoughts in a row, then they pair up with a peer, and share their thoughts with each other and discuss the topic. They have also taught us numerous ways to include AI into our own lessons and even how to use AI to learn what is AI and what isn’t. This program continues to teach me things that I can bring back into my own classroom and has help me grow as a teacher.
