My classes just got finished preparing for and completing a mock On-Demand. In an attempt to make writing more fun and personable, we used a couple of technological tools to try to enhance their writing. First, we used the QuickDraw website. The students took turns drawing the six words it asked us to draw. We then used the words it gave us to create sentences using these words. We put these sentences together in a creative, fun paragraph. I took the classroom paragraph and entered it into a prompt on myshortanswer.com and the students competed to elaborate on our story and voted on what they thought was the best answer/story.
